Brenton MacKinnon
Mac began his teaching career with the Marine Corps infantry when assigned to live alone in the remote village of Nong Son as an interpreter during the Vietnam War. Later, a search to recapture that same magical Shangri-La resulted in two tours with the Peace Corps. Graduate school provided the right degree as a license to wander. He continued for decades. The path included: teaching at a Navajo school, program development for SEAsian resettlement, Latino immigrant programs and educational contracts in half a dozen third world countries. After years abroad he returned to the U.S. working with incarcerated veterans in PTSD counseling and memoir writing. He is now a contended grandfather.
